Bookmarklets
To install one, drag its button to your browser’s bookmarks bar. Then click the bookmark while you’re on the page you want to use it on. (Clicking the button here won’t do anything.)
Copy issue link
#Copies a Markdown link to the GitHub issue, pull request, or discussion you’re viewing, in the form [title](URL), ready to paste into another issue, a doc, or chat.
Increment URL
#Goes to the next page by adding one to the number at the end of the URL. Handy for paging through issues, photos, or anything else with sequential IDs.
View without cache
#Reloads the page with a unique dontCache query parameter, so CDNs and other caches miss and the server sends a fresh copy. Handy when checking whether a change has really shipped.
Pages toggle
#Toggles between a GitHub Pages site and the repository that publishes it: from github.com/owner/repo to owner.github.io/repo/, and back.
Limitations
- Browsers only allow clipboard writes right after a user action, so Copy issue link has to be clicked from the bookmarks bar.
- Pages toggle works by reading the URL, so it can’t recognize GitHub Pages sites on custom domains.
- Some sites’ Content Security Policy blocks bookmarklets in Firefox.
- They’re tested in Chromium and Firefox. They may work in other browsers, but I haven’t checked.
The source and tests are in benbalter/bookmarklets.
